Business Name: Bunchberry Beadwork

Alex Antle (she/her) is a L’nu artist and entrepreneur located in Elmastukwek, Ktaqmkuk (Bay of Islands, Newfoundland). Since 2017, Alex has been learning slow stitching practices including beadwork and caribou tufting with the guidance of a community of Mi’kmaq artisans. Alex’s artwork explores the relationship between tradition and modern Mi’kmaq people, living culture, and the importance of land and water. Alex also creates wearable art and runs a small arts-based business, Bunchberry Beadwork, where she creates unique contemporary accessories with traditional stitches. Alex has exhibited her work in galleries across Atlantic Canada, participated in art festivals, and frequently shares her skills through workshops. In 2021, Alex received the emerging artist award from VANL-CARFAC and has received multiple entrepreneurial awards from Youth Ventures Newfoundland and Labrador including the 2020 Excellence in Marketing Award and the 2021 Venture of the Year Award.
