MEET THE ARTISAN
JENNY BRAKE
Jenny Brake grew up in a small rural community where creative inspiration was all around her. Jenny uses a variety of artistic techniques to help her express her journey as an Indigenous person and a Mi’kmaw artist with multiple passions. Jenny comes from a family of creative innovators, with an educational background in textiles and metalwork. Jenny enriches and increases the visual representation of indigenous people to allow others to see a reflection of themselves. Jenny’s wide interests drive her passion to encourage folks to show their indigenous pride through her modern clothing designs which are infused with traditional values. A pillar in her community, Jenny uplifts others as a mentor and a leader in both culture and arts through her work as the chair of Dragonfly Moon’s social enterprise. Jenny’s community uses her art to increase the visual representation of Mi’kmaq people.
